Federal officials lifted a ground stop at Denver International Airport, but departing flights are delayed an average of two hours because of thunderstorms sweeping across the Front Range, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The ground stop at DIA started at 4 p.m. and was lifted by 6:20 p.m., the FAA said on its website.

Just ahead of 2:30 p.m., JFK was said to be experiencing an average ground delay of 107 minutes due to weather. According to the FAA advisory, the delay was impacting "all contiguous U.S." departures. The advisory was updated at 6:21 p.m. to include an additional departure delay of 15 minutes.
